Software Is a Force Multiplier in Our Contract Manufacturing Environment

software

If you’ve been following along with our previous articles, you’ll know that technology has been reshaping how work gets done today at Reata.

As customer expectations evolve, so do the demands placed on manufacturers. Faster quoting, tighter timelines, greater visibility, and more complex parts are the norm across industries like medical and aerospace machining.

For that reason, we’ve determined that instead of adding layers of manual effort, it’s important that we invest in software that amplifies what our team is capable of.

Doing More with Less: Our Small Team Makes a Large Impact

Like many precision machine shops, we don’t have unlimited resources. With a small but mighty team of just 34 people, we must be creative and innovative in order to scale operations. We’ve focused on building a system where:

  • Repetitive tasks are automated
  • Information is centralized
  • Communication is streamlined
  • Decisions are made faster and with more context

As a result, we’re able to operate with the efficiency and structure of a much larger organization.

The Software Stack Powering Reata

Quoting with speed and accuracy

Our team uses Paperless Parts to streamline our quoting process. This software enables us to turn around quotes faster, reduce manual data entry, maintain consistency across projects, and stay abreast of potential risks that could impact production.

For our customers, this means more immediate feedback and a more predictable front-end experience.

Real-time operations with ERP integration

Our operations are powered by Fulcrum, which connects everything from scheduling to production tracking. By integrating ERP deeply into our workflows, we’re able to:

  • Maintain real-time visibility into job status
  • Coordinate across departments more effectively
  • Reduce delays caused by miscommunication

Machine monitoring and performance insights

We use Datanomix to monitor machine performance and utilization across the shop floor. This offers real-time insight into machine efficiency and opportunities to optimize throughput, resulting in more reliable timelines and better overall execution.

Building Out Bespoke Systems

For areas in which we have not found a suitable software solution, the Reata team has rolled up our sleeves and gotten to work on building one out ourselves! Here are some examples of innovations we’ve developed in-house:

Developing our customer portal

We use our customer portal to provide both internal and external visibility, allowing customers to check on their order statuses in real time while our team maintains full traceability of communication. Every production update is logged and time-stamped, so it is visible across the organization.

Honing our supplier portal

As with the customer portal, our supplier portal will offer up-to-date insights for both Reata and our external vendors. This system will allow our vendors to forecast more effectively, ensuring smoother production from the very beginning.

Operating with our agentic system

Reata has built out a fully integrated agentic platform that connects our internal systems and performs more repetitive tasks that can free our people up to perform higher value-added work. This has created a smoother experience for our customers, with faster quoting and greater transparency.

Aligning Technology with Customer Outcomes

Every software decision we make ties back to one question: Does this make things better for our customers?

By aligning our technology with customer needs, we’re able to:

  • Improve response times
  • Increase transparency
  • Reduce errors and delays
  • Deliver a more predictable manufacturing experience

By combining best-in-class software and custom-built internal tools, Reata is creating a manufacturing environment that is scalable, transparent, and highly efficient.
