Reata Engineering is committed to continuous improvement and puts in significant effort to stay at the forefront of the manufacturing industry.
Our team members regularly attend industry conferences to learn about innovations that could enhance our capabilities and increase our capacity. As an active member of many professional associations, we’re known as the shop that will try out the latest technology and report back to our colleagues on our experience.
However, despite our willingness to try new things, we don’t like to make important business decisions in a vacuum. Instead, we rely heavily on manufacturing industry benchmarks. Assessing our performance on an ongoing basis shows us where we stand in the market and helps us determine where to focus our efforts.
MachineMetrics and Top Shops Data
Our shop uses MachineMetrics software to monitor our capacity utilization and see how it compares to that of other shops around the country. Regularly examining the data on each machine enables us to easily discern how our productivity levels rank among those of our peers using the same equipment.
Each year, we also complete the Top Shops survey from Modern Machine Shop, a tool dedicated to benchmarking in the manufacturing industry. The survey collects data from a wide range of areas, including business strategy, operations, technology, and human resources. That data is used to create a custom report that helps businesses identify areas of strength and weakness and compare their performance in particular categories from year to year.
National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA) Benchmarking Reports
As a leading trade organization for US-based precision machine shops, NTMA is an invaluable resource for benchmarking in the manufacturing industry. We report our financial and salary data to NTMA each year and see how this data compares with shops in the region and across the country.
NTMA Benchmarking Reports offer visibility into the industry at large, helping us answer important questions like: Are we a high-performing shop? Is our pay competitive? From these reports, we’ve learned that our salaries are indeed extremely competitive! (Interested? Join our team.)
Customer Feedback
Of all the benchmarks we monitor, customer feedback is perhaps the most important of all. Performance statistics are ultimately meaningless if they don’t reflect the experience of the individuals who trust us to deliver high-quality precision parts.
We pride ourselves on being an engineer-friendly shop that welcomes collaboration and open communication with our customers throughout design and production. Our customer-focused approach, combined with our strategic implementation of technologies that optimize our performance and efficiency, ensure consistent high marks from our most critical audience.
Depend on Reata Engineering for Continuous Improvement
While we’re certainly proud of what we’ve achieved so far at Reata, you can count on our team to never rest on our laurels. We believe that there’s always room for improvement, and we’ll never bury our heads in the sand when benchmarking data reveals an area of weakness.
Part of being an industry leader is facing a performance deficit with clear eyes so you can develop and quickly implement a plan for improvement. We’re grateful for the various measures that provide us with timely and comprehensive data on the services we provide. It keeps us on our toes at all times!
