Contract Manufacturing, Reimagined: How Reata’s Agentic System Delivers Scale and Speed

contract manufacturing

At Reata, we’re investing heavily in technology to redefine what modern contract manufacturing looks like.

  • We launched our vendor communication platform, a tool that improves on-time delivery for our customers.
  • For years, we have leveraged AI systems that are built into a number of our technologies and software solutions to streamline production and automate tedious processes that free our team members to perform more high-value tasks.

This time, we’d like to announce our advanced agentic system, built entirely in-house, a tool that will make a sizeable impact on our internal operations. Allow us to explore what this system looks like and what it will mean for our customers.

Connecting Systems, Seamlessly

Reata is building a fully integrated agentic platform that connects all of our internal systems, including quoting, purchasing, maintenance, scheduling, and more. This platform allows AI-driven agents to perform repetitive, computer-based tasks autonomously, while keeping a human in the loop for decision-making and oversight.

What’s more, any system exposed through an API, such as Fulcrum, Paperless Parts, and our maintenance software, can be connected. This means workflows that once required manual effort across multiple systems can now happen faster, with fewer handoffs and less friction.

For our customers, this will translate directly into a smoother contract manufacturing experience: faster quotes, quicker updates, improved execution, and more.

A Knowledge Base That Powers Consistency

A critical component of this system is an internal knowledge base that documents how we do things at Reata. These knowledge assets, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and decision frameworks, can be marked as web-ready and referenced by agents in real time.

With access to this knowledge base across departments and projects, our team ensures consistency as they support customers’ prototype machining services and full contract production services. It also supports our Design for Manufacturing capabilities, ensuring intent is clearly understood and executed from quote through delivery.

Human-Led, AI-Supported Workflows

Agents that scale with demand

One of the most powerful aspects of this agentic system is its ability to scale automatically. If demand spikes, during a surge in purchasing activity, for example, the system can spin up multiple instances of a purchasing agent to handle the load.

Always a human in the loop

While these agents can operate autonomously, they’re never operating alone. If an agent encounters uncertainty, such as an unclear requirement or vendor question, it automatically pings the appropriate Reata team member for clarification.

By keeping a human in the loop at all times, our agent offers the accountability and trust we’re known for here at Reata. This is especially important for challenging industries like aerospace and medical machining, where documentation and communication are critical.

What This Means for Our Customers

Faster front-end execution

By automating repetitive front-office tasks, our engineers, buyers, and project managers will be freed up to focus on higher-value work. That means better planning, faster quoting, improved communication, and smoother production for our customers.

Better scalability and reliability

Reata’s systems and processes are designed to handle varying workloads without slowing down. This will be especially beneficial for customers navigating increased demand or rapid growth.

A technology-forward culture

Here at Reata, we’re not just adopting new technologies for the novelty; we’re strategically investing in systems and processes that improve outcomes for our customers and teams. As a customer-obsessed company, every system we build is designed to reduce delays and deliver parts faster, without compromising quality.

This agentic system is just one more step in that journey, and only the tip of the iceberg in how we plan to support our customers going forward. As we continue to evolve, we’ll share updates and insights to keep you involved and informed regarding how tools will level up our contract manufacturing services.
