How Our Turnkey Assembly Services Benefit Customers

assembly services

Your precision machine shop may not be the first place you turn to for assembly services, but at Reata Engineering, we believe it should be.

Precision machining companies like Reata are well-equipped to manage your assembly process. From sourcing and machining components to managing inventory, we take the bulk of the work off your plate.

Our expertise allows us to identify issues that aren’t always evident until the assembly stage and troubleshoot solutions quickly and easily. Our project managers have the skills and experience to manage the most challenging projects and ensure assemblies are completed on time and within the specified requirements.

At Reata, our assembly capabilities are just as robust as our complex precision machining services—they both make up the complete turnkey solution we offer customers.

An Overview of Reata’s Assembly Services

Reata offers a wide range of assembly services, and we are experts in every part of the assembly process: sourcing materials and components, machining parts, and managing projects.

Here are some examples of our assembly capabilities:

  • Electronic wiring
  • Wire harness assembly
  • Motor attachment
  • Dowel pin installation
  • Heli-Coil insertion
  • Assembly with printed circuit boards (PCBs)
  • Complex assemblies with hundreds of  components

Reata can handle almost any assembly—as long as it fits through our doorway. There are two major exceptions: while we can complete assemblies with PCBs, we don’t create or solder components directly onto PCBs (though we have partners who can help with this). We are also unable to meet cleanroom requirements in house.

But everything else is right up our alley!

Case study: 25-part wire harness assembly

assembly services

An assembly we recently completed involved five different machined components, which we made using our 5-axis machining and vertical milling capabilities. Afterward, we applied a blue anodized finish.

In addition to machining those five custom parts, we sourced and purchased 20 off-the-shelf components on our customer’s behalf, which helped shorten the lead time for this project.

Finally, we assembled all 25 parts using our electro-mechanical assembly capabilities.

Top 4 Reasons to Trust Your Precision Machine Shop for Assembly

A complete turnkey manufacturing solution can save money, time, and headaches. When customers rely on the same precision machine shop for machining and assembly services, they reap many benefits, including:

1. Inventory management

Many vendors have minimum order quantities that one-off assemblies won’t meet. Reata can manage inventory by ordering the minimum order quantity (MOQ) and selling customers only what they need when they need it. This strategy reduces risks and costs for customers.

2. Reliable part sourcing

We have established relationships with trusted vendors and suppliers for off-the-shelf components. Our team knows where to find the highest quality parts for the most reasonable price. We have experienced project managers who handle back-and-forth communications with vendors and mitigate supply chain issues to ensure parts arrive on time.

3. Quality assurance and troubleshooting

Customers benefit from our quality management processes and ISO compliance. Our strict quality control ensures we identify issues quickly, and our Design for Manufacturability (DFM) experience empowers us to solve those issues proactively.

However, around 10% of problems aren’t apparent until assembly. To ensure we identify them, we perform functionality testing on assemblies. Our capable engineers and machinists can adjust tolerances on the fly and recommend design changes to avoid recurring issues.

4. Low costs and short lead times

When customers entrust assembly to Reata, we save them the expense and effort of procuring materials, managing inventory, and assembling products internally.

Our machining experience and industry connections allow us to assemble parts more efficiently than customers can, and we often add value along the way with our DFM suggestions.

We can shorten customer lead times by weeks or months thanks to our extensive in-house capabilities. Say goodbye to shipping parts back and forth between vendors or external quality testing—Reata can handle everything in one facility.

Reata’s Assembly Services Create Value for Every Customer

Reata can take on just about any assembly project, from simple tasks like adding dowel pins to complex assemblies involving over hundreds of different components. Plus, we love working with customers to create custom turnkey solutions based on their needs.

It may feel like a smart move to handle assembly in-house. But when you break it down, Reata is positioned to save you time and money by adding assembly services to the machining services you’re already buying from us.
