10 Ways We Provide Subassembly and Assembly Support
Here are 10 reasons our integrated team is suited to be your single-source solution for subassemblies and assemblies.
1. Design support
Our team of expert designers and engineers will work with you to ensure subassembly and assembly functionality. Iterations are expected when designing and manufacturing parts, and we can easily make design modifications in house without delaying your timeline.
We can review your design thoroughly and confirm that your drawings and models are accurate so you can get a functioning assembly manufactured anywhere (though we hope you’ll work with us!).
2. Precision machined parts
Our mix of CNC milling, turning, multi-tasking, and Swiss turning services makes us fully equipped to tackle your next assembly project.
If we can’t make a part in house, we’ll procure it from an outside vendor and manage that relationship from start to finish, so you don’t have to.
3. Surface preparation and finishing
We offer in-house finishing capabilities and have relationships with carefully vetted outside specialists to meet your needs. As always, we own the vendor relationships and timelines when we outsource these services.
Our surface preparation and finishing offerings include:
- Plating
- Heat-treating
- Painting
- Welding
- Laser cutting
- Laser engraving
- Silk-screening
- Bead blasting
- Anodizing
4. Hardware installation
Paying engineers to install dowel pins and install Heli-Coils into holes just isn’t a good use of their time or your budget. When we take on hardware installation, your engineers can focus on designing new parts and products instead.
5. Modifying purchased parts
If you have stock components that aren’t quite the right fit for your assembly, we can easily modify them.
For a recent project, we frosted the company logo on acrylic, using a laser, that needed to go into the assembly we were working on. The print called out acrylic and acrylic comes 2 ways, extruded and cast. Extruded acrylic can’t be frosted using a laser, so the print needed to call out specifically cast acrylic. We worked with the customer to make sure their documentation was updated for this assembly, as well as another one that had the same issue.
6. Wiring and electrical assembly
We manufacture optical products often and are experts at wiring and electrical assembly.
We routinely source cabling, circuit boards, and other electrical components for our customers. We also solder components together, provide testing services (including potential testing), and perform inspections.
7. Testing and quality assurance
We take quality assurance seriously and perform non-destructive testing (NDT) such as magnetic particle testing, x-ray, and hardness testing to ensure your parts are assembled correctly.
We have top-of-the-line inspection equipment and work with source inspectors to meet UL requirements in the United States and CE requirements in the UK and European Union. We also adhere to AS9100 standards—even for non-aerospace parts.
8. Sourcing
It’s no secret that factors like the pandemic, climate challenges, and worldwide workforce shortages have significantly impacted global supply chains.
Fortunately, we have ample experience overcoming supply chain challenges for our customers and can source everything from material to castings to electrical components. .
9. Shipping
We do what it takes to get your assemblies to their final destination. We can ship your products anywhere in the world—we’ll handle the paperwork to get them through customs and navigate specific delivery requirements. We can even design specialized packaging to make sure your parts arrive in pristine condition.
10. Customer service
While you’ll often work with a dedicated engineer as your point of contact for technical issues, we have an entire customer service department to support you throughout our partnership.
We believe in consistent and transparent communication and provide weekly open order reports to keep customers in the loop at all times.
Manufacturing subassemblies and assemblies requires laser-sharp attention to detail, and you deserve a contract manufacturing partner you can trust.
Here at Reata Engineering, we know what you need every step of the way because we own and build our own start-to-finish product, ConeMount. We’ve been engineering, manufacturing, and even distributing a UL and CE-certified product line of lightweight, portable bearing heaters for more than 20 years.
When we say we understand the skills and services required for subassembly and assembly, we mean it—we know these processes firsthand and create our solutions from real-life circumstances.
